“Old Trafford was at its best in the early 1990's when...”

★★☆☆☆

Old Trafford was at its best in the early 1990's when the roofline was the same all the way round. Now its a complete mess and the place looks like a steelworks. The stands dont match whether your inside or outside the ground, theres no leg room and getting refreshments at half time is impossible. Apart from the big matches theres no atmosphere either.

Bobby Charlton must have been having a laugh when he cristened the ground 'the theatre of dreams', he clearly wasnt looking from a spectators viewpoint!

Even the last piece of the original ground (the players tunnel on the half way line) has been replaced with a soul-less entrance from the corner flag.

The place is worth visiting however, because of the historical sculptures and plaques on the outside and because it is such a large and famous ground, but i would think many real football fans would be left with a sense that they are disappointed in the reality of the place. For shear nostalgia and atmosphere visit Anfield, Goodison, White Hart Lane or Pompey, you will enjoy the experience more.

Saying that, the museum at Old Trafford is very good but food and drinks are very expensive. Try Lou Macari's chippy on nearby Chester Road for some real 'manc' food (chips and gravy) at a great price!
