History department at UCLAN - I wasn't completely satisfied. Tutors weren't very supportive, and in my eyes not much good at teaching! Not very much choice in the way of modules available, and had lots of problems when trying to register for them as we were forced to take other modules to ones we had chosen because they got rid of staff and we only given very short notice of this!
Library good, but messed up a lot with accounts, replaced library to make it 'better' but lost a lot of books that were available last year probably won't be available this year!
On- Campus stuff is expensive! And accommodation expensive, anyone going with friends should look at renting a house because its cheaper! and nightlife although cheap is minimal! I didn't go to see the university before I went and I wished I had! I wouldn't recommend this university to anyone wanting to study History!
Accommodation - expensive! £400 a month en suite. The reception staff were rude. (I Q Kopa) Rooms where nice, with bathroom if not a little bit small and a 10/15 min to the main city centre. Came all furnished. And what ever you do don't lose your keys! £40 to replace!
The university campus is located close to the city centre which is a bonus, and buildings aren't far apart and close to bus station and train station. Lots of bus routes around Preston. Cars require permits but don't know much about that as didn't take my car with me!
I have only experienced the history department, so this is not to say that all departments would be like this.
