I really like Yorkshire Building Society. I find the staff in branch second to none. They always make you feel like a person and go out of their way to help you. It feels like banking like it used to be (in a good way).

My only real gripe is that they changed the local branch telephone number to an 0845 number, which costs 11p a minute from my phone, as opposed to a geographic number which is free. However, staff at the call centre are very good (and I believe UK based which is always a plus!)

0845 is actually cheaper than a standard geographical number

BT, Plusnet & TalkTalk don't charge for 0845

from a landline 0845 has never cost 11ppm
but if was an 0844 it would be much more
and if it was an 0870 then it is likely to be 10p per minute or more
