The Cobra MT800 Microtalk radios can retail for as little as £21.00 for a pair with batteries, chargers and earbud headsets and as such are a very good value for money. However, in the field I have found the following problems; the buttons are too exposed and are continually being pressed, the lock function does not prevent this. I have glued rubber piping around the buttons and the screen which has alleviated the problem. The earbud headsets quit after a short time with the microphones spitting the dummy. Be very wary of buying motorcycle headsets, even if they are listed for the MT800 as the MT200 MT 600 and MT800 are wired differently to the standard and are different to the MT550 MT750 and MT975. I bought a pair of headsets claiming to cover all these models and have had to re-wire them and replace the mic's with different impedance ones.
The following earbud headsets fit the MT800: Pama NCOPHFPTTCT
