We decided to go to the New Mayflower Chinese restaurant due to a recommendation from someone and we weren't disappointed. We went on a Friday night and as you can imagine it was heaving but we managed to get a table without reservations after waiting a short while.
It is a very large restaurant with a lot of seating downstairs as well as the main ground floor. At the time we were there there were a lot of Chinese people eating (usually a good sign in a Chinese restaurant!). The food was very reasonably priced and tasted very authentic.
The service wasn't the most attentive I've ever had but then they were incredibly busy and they still got us everything we needed.
I'd definitely recommend the New Mayflower, I'd suggest it is a good place to go pre or post-theatre, it being located in the heart of London's West End. If you're looking for a quiet/romantic meal I would suggest trying somewhere else but if you don't mind hustle and bustle and aren't looking for something too posh then it's perfect.
