I bought 03 Micra from new and have just hit 35,000 miles. I recently had problems starting my car in mornings (mostly when cold) and took it to local garage which diagnosed two faults. I had to take it to Nissan, cost me £83 to have it diagnosed again! They cleared the fault codes and told me the problem was fixed. when i picked car up next day, they informed me that it wouldn't start so most likely to be the timing chain and quoted £900+ to fix, but couldn't guarantee nothing else would go wrong! Dealer said it was probably because it was getting old and that it didn't have its last service done! I tried to argue that this seemed a manufacturing fault due to the low mileage- they just told me Nissan wouldn't accept responsibility as it was out of warranty and I didn't have full service history with Nissan. I drove my car for another two weeks and on Friday the engine warning light came on so now i am frightened to drive the car. Having been a careful lady driver, doing very little mileage, and on reading other reports of 03 micras I DO think this is a manufacturing fault. I am going to ring Trading Standards and get in touch with Watchdog re this as some other reviewers have mentioned they would do. Am interested to hear if anyone had any luck in getting their Micra fixed using Trading Standards or by any other means? I need help.......quick!!!
