I bought this Diesel Accord as a long term car to use for business but after 6 months the clutch was slipping slightly intop (6th) gear. I let this go and lived with it. It hasn't got much worse but as my warranty was running out I thought I would enquire with Honda about replacng it. I wrote to Honda first and when they eventually replied they toldme to take it to the dealer. Fair enough so I called them to enquire about the problem and immediately sensed a defensive tone. They admitted tha the civic had a problem but if I wanted them to inspect it it would cost £800. I took the car in for them to check the adjustment and they said it was fine. Whilst I had the workshop supervisor alone I asked if it was common for clutches to wear out at 70k and again sensed a standard brick wall approach. He went on to point at the tow bar - which Ipointed out I had fitted and only used for a cycle attachment. Very dissapointed at Honda especially as the main reason for purchase was their reliability. I will returnto VW where a clutch has lastd 170k and still going. Bye bye Honda. Shame because I usually stick with a brand if I like and get good service and notget fobbed off. Howards Honda Weston-s mare. Internet sites seem to suggest a common problem too. My advice - steer clear.
