General Comments
ive purchased the Fostex MR8-MK11 recorder as a go-between to replace my sony minidisk that i think its great. the Fostex is different because the files recorded can be dragged to a pc and edited/saved. so far im quite happy. im not sure wether i will keep this as long as the minidisk .. but it depends if i get used to the system.
to some people may see this device as being more musically orientated ... but although i will also use it for my musical endeavors .. it will double as a general studio recorder. ive run broadcast radio thru the deck and it performs as good as my old minidisk .. although recording another new track is a bit more fiddly.
for the price its worth a look. if u need a digital recorder .. and like me .. find those pocket players/recorders a bit small to have plumbed into your hi-fi .. this could be just the job. drag and drop is easy using usb and the results are pleasing. ive not used it as a multitracker as yet .. but ive used a computer version so i guess it will be similar.
i know you can record on a pc but
one thing to bear in mind .. its faster than a pc on switch on .. and can be a lot quieter as a stand alone device.
