Good Points
Service was pleasant, wine was good.
General Comments
This restaurant is in a time warp, 80's cuisine at it's worst! Prawn cocktail served in a wine glass! I felt that the pate was gritty and mainly tasted of garlic and little else. Barbara Streisand playing in the background. Steak was served with a massive lump of garlic butter presumably to give it some flavour as it was a poor piece of meat. When it came to the cheese and biscuits you could either have cheddar or stilton, not a selection and served with a small piece of sliced apple.
It was all just very mediocre. Wouldn't eat at Ambles Brasserie again and wished I had walked out when I first looked at the menu, should have gone with my initial impression! Poor restuarant that could do with a bit of a Ramsay makeover for sure. Shame because it is a prime location in a tourist town. At the moment I guess it survives on tourists such as myself that walk in off the street.
