Woodie09's review of India, Taj Mahal

Good Points
Simply stunning. Pictures online or in print really cannot do the Taj justice. One of those places that everyone should see before they die. There are one or two reasonable places to eat in Agra. Fairly easy to reach from Delhi

Bad Points
It's a tourist trap. when I went, all be it 7 years ago, the Indian government had really hiked the price of entry for non-Indians. The usual array of rip-offs that afflict Indian tourism, like officials telling you this is a good view and that is a good view then demanding money for the privilege. Can be busy unless you go early. Agra itself is pretty dull

General Comments
The first sight of the Taj Mahal when you enter the compound is nothing less than breathtaking, and this doesn't diminish as you get closer when you see the intricacy of the building in greater detail the nearer you get. I saw it a while ago, so I don't know what the current price is to get in, but it rankled that Indians are charged a pittance to get in while foreigners pay through the nose.

A must see, despite the minor irritations
