Hawaiian Airlines Review

Recently we had reservations on Hawaiian Airlines. The eye of Hurricane Ike passed over our neighborhood just before we were to travel. After one week of having to boil water prior to consuming it, living by generators and flashlights (we were without electricity for 13 days), and dealing with looting as close as next door, we decided to move our travel back two weeks. The other airline, rental car agency, hoteliers, and shore excursion companies were most gracious and waived ALL the change fees. My wife and I made the itinerary changes by flashlight as it was too early to run the generator (had to be efficient with gasoline as it was still difficult to come by). Hawaiian originally waived its change fee. Upon our return we opened the American Express bill and to our surprise we found the $270 change fee charged to our account. Long story short: Hawaiian agent we spoke to agreed to waive the change fee. Two days later it appears that a Hawaiian supervisor reviewed the itinerary and applied the charge. Through the dispute process with American Express and at Hawaiian, Hawaiian stated that it is not responsible for misinformation given out by its agents. Thank you, Hawaiian Airlines, for showing compassion during times of a natural disaster. Remember, we have a choice for inter-island travel.
