geomowat's review of Krups GVX231 Grinder

“The shop was going to leave the Krups GVX231 Grinder...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by geomowat on 20/01/2009

Good Points
Very easy to operate and did produce a uniform grind at the different settings. Apparently good price for a proper grinder.

Bad Points
Fiddly hopper that seemed to be highly prone to static electricity. Main complaint was that the on/off switch seemed to be in the circuit after the UK mains transformer so that it had to be switched off at the wall when not being used or it overheated to the point of smelling that it was about to catch fire.

General Comments
The shop was going to leave the Krups GVX231 Grinder on overnight to test, but it got so hot they felt it was not wise to do so (I was not the first to return it for this reason, one example did produce smoke). The shop was going to change it for another which was not quite so bad in their own test, but still remained pretty warm. I was then offered the Dualit one which was more expensive, but has been working well for some time now.
