Good Points
The Cottage itself was quaint enough, and seemed idyllic for our idea of a getaway, and according to its press and blurb on the website, we had no reason to doubt that.
This holiday had been booked three months before Christmas and our 50% deposit had been paid in October.

Bad Points
There was very little effort that had been made to ensure the over all cleanliness of the 'QUALITY INCLUSIONS" that had been promised on the website. There were light bulbs that had blown with no replacements (this cottage was particularly dark inside even during the daytime). We had to literally wash cutlery and crockery before we could use any of it. The glass kettle was filthy with murky rusty looking brown water still inside it, clearly visible from the outside of it! The stove was ill equipped and did not work properly. The oven was unclean as was the inside of the microwave oven. The only other alternative was a gas barbecue that was filthy with white cooking fat all over the plate and residue food stuck to the grill part from previous users and little or no gas in the bottle provided. There was nothing in or around the cottage in the way of barbecue tools that we could even clean the plates with! This was what we were faced with on Christmas eve to be able to cook anything for Christmas lunch the following day, and the following 4 days!

General Comments
We had booked our holiday in September for 5 days over the Christmas period to commence on 23rd December. Because of the appalling conditions, we stayed a mere 23 hours before making the three and a half hour journey home on the 24th December - Christmas Eve. The worst part is, we contacted the owners to let them know of our disappointment at a reasonable hour the following morning, and to date, three weeks later, there has been absolutely NO response at all, or apology or offer of refund from anyone at the retreat. That's just plain bad business!
