Good Points
Great power, stable at all speeds, and of course 70 mpg!
Bad Points
Having a terrible time getting the scooter repaired. See general comments... not reliable.
General Comments
I have a GT 200 (2006) and it has just under 1000 mi on it. The scooter has started shutting off (dying) after slowing down and going to idle. It will not restart. I have had it towed to the Vepa dealer 3 times and have spent over $700.00. Picked it up yesterday, drove home (5 miles) and died in my garage. Will not start. Had a major blow-up with the dealer so can't take it back. Anyone else haveing a related issue? Dealer claims to have replaced all major electrical components.

Your problem could be caused by vapour lock in the fuel tank. Ensure that air can flow in through the fuel cap. If it cannot, then as the fuel pump/gravity feed draws fuel to the engine, a vacuum is created in the fuel tank, thus stopping the free flow of fuel (i.e. the fuel pump cannot overcome the vacuum, so the fuel flow stops and the engine stops). This could explain how you can travel only a few kilometers before the engine cuts out. Does it "pop and fart" before it stops? If it does, this is a classic sign of fuel starvation and would point to a vapour lock issue. Many dealers would not find this out because they would test ride only for 1km or so. Have a look at the valve inside your fuel tank cap. If it's not allowing air flow, then that's the cause. Take it apart and give it a good clean with WD40 and degreaser.

my vespa GTS 250 dies in hot weather. I have topped up the coolant and can think of nothing else to do. My service dealer is 90 mins highway drive from me and I don't drive on highways!!! so someone posted in another chat room about spark plug; spark plug cap and something called an HT lead. Not sure what that is but will see if I can locate the spark plugs. Do I need special ones do you think?
