The Salon is R Rated hair meets Tabtha Coffey. People blow up overnight, but real artists sometimes struggle to. Especially when the artists are hair stylists. That has changed when it comes to Richie Roman and Mark Anthony of R RATED HAIR. Two great hairstylists with a great vision about a persons appearance, they are the next best thing! They have been stamping their R Rated Hair logo around Southern California for 7 years. These guys spend day and night running their magical hands through the clientale they have built (which includes: Myles Jeffery-star of Ant Bully and Eddie Nicols-lead singer of Grammy winning band Royal Crown Revue) as well as magazine covers (Cut & Style-Celebrity Hairstyles-944), television shows (Dr.90210-MTV's True Life-Jeporady), SoCal billboards, and editorial work. Just visit RRATEDHAIR.COM. Currently they are filming their own makeover show appropriately titled "R Rated Hair: The Show" where they transform underprivildged women who are graduating from local trade schools and working towards a new career as a business woman of the new millineum. The most recent large scale adventure these hard working guys have been on is filming a new reality show for the BRAVO network who brought you hit shows like Project Runway and Blowout. Richie Roman and Mark Anthony have teamed up with Shear Genius's fan favorite Tabatha Coffey to film "Tabatha's Salon Takeover." The show begins August 21 at 10pm. Being that the R RATED HAIR team is located at The Loft On Broadway in Long Beach Ca, they were thrilled that they convinced BRAVO and Tabatha to venture into this salon and take it over. The Loft On Broadway's weakness was the salon was opened on a buget and the teamwork their did not exist! Well, all that changed the minute Tabatha came through the door. Mark Anthony describes her as ' such a macho woman, and I say that because like a man, she exudes testosterone in an androdgenous form, but underneath her thick skin, and evil and devilish looks, she's a sweet girl with reasons behind her fury. She really believes in a stylist who believes in themselves. Richie and I really didn't work against her, like some of the other stylists did in the salon. She did give some good advice on and off camera. But I will say that the 1st thing I thought upon her arrival was, should I hide! It was a really tumultuous moment! I had just discovered that my client was not just some new random/new client, she was actually a decoy sent by Tabatha to test my skill ' and my patience! Her critiques on the actual salon were very harsh. She pointed out things that embarrassed everyone! I will say after her eye brow was raised a few times, she became very accommodating though. She gave tons of advice. One of her biggest issues with R Rated Hair was she didn't understand why Richie Roman & myself were in the salon we were in. Not that we are beyond the salon, but more like, why is it that R Rated Hair is one company and doing so many things outside of the salon with magazines and television, and still tied to the salon without just opening our own. The answer to that was simple, we love the salon we're in. We work with some fun people. With the right guidence from Tabatha, everyone has the opportunity to achieve success. Now, speaking for everyone there, the whole experience was a roller-coaster as well as an eye-opener. I remember going to work every day wondering what the challenge was that day and if anyone was going to be fired! Out of everything she gave advice on, the number 1 thing R Rated Hair took from her was for us to grab life by the balls, be super-independent, take it in a great direction and as far as we could take it ' and even then, go for more. Basically, follow our dreams, kick ass, all that stuff, and I feel like at the end of filming, I woke up holding the golden halo and realized that if you are smart and sassy in a helpful manner, you can accomplish a lot. It was a combination of good and bad, and also just feeling incredibly vulnerable as well as inspired. After Tabatha's departure, The Loft is a very appealing salon with more of an upscale look and attitude. Richie & I see our work from a different perspective. The number one thing that seperates us from other artists is giving the client the outer beauty experience as well as the search to find the true stuff, but also to find how to put it towards their advantage, because a lot of times when you find the true stuff it's not very attractive. It doesn't come out in a very digestible way. R RATED HAIR really wants to illuminate people, inspire a persons "look" with who they are, and make them want to be a better version of who they already are. So you have to really search and make their outer appearance mirror their inner self. And when you do inspire that better version, their "look" is breathtaking! That is really the impression Tabatha left with R RATED HAIR.
