General Comments
Review of Bobby Brown Foundation - A couple of months ago, disenchanted with my then choice of foundation, I set out upon a quest to find a new one that was a better colour match and didn't turn orange after a couple of hours.
After much searching I came across Bobbi Brown. Reading all the gumph, it looks good in principle. I have very fair skin and it's difficult to find anything in my colour, so I was delighted to see their extended range of fair tones (extended being a relative term, seeing as most makeup ranges don't seem to have anything for people without a tan). It was an expensive experiment - Bobbi Brown does not provide testers. I bought the Oil-Free Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 at £24 for a 30ml bottle. Ouch.
I'll say now that I've been wearing this for almost 3 months now, as I paid too much for it to just throw it out, so I've had plenty of time to give it a good test.
The Good:
- I chose Warm Ivory and it turned out to be a pretty good colour match, much better than anything I'd tried previously.
- A little goes a long way. I'd estimate that by the time I've finished the bottle it will have lasted me 4 or 5 months.
The Middling:
- It's very, very runny, which is new to me, I'm used to the slightly stiffer foundations. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on which you prefer.
The Bad:
- I think the coverage is abysmal. Every imperfection or slight redness shines through like a beacon. If I try to build it up I go orange very quickly indeed.
- I find the staying power very, very poor. If conditions even get mildly less than optimal it slides around all over the place. Once it's on it makes me sweat, which then turns it to the consistancy of milk and it slides off completely in those areas. Reapplying looks awful. If it's a warm day and I perspire even a teeny bit, the same thing happens. Sadly my portable head fridge is on backorder.
I will never EVER buy this again, and on principle I will be avoiding all other Bobbi Brown products. For something this expensive to perform so poorly is extremely disappointing. The only reason I've been able to wear it for a couple of months is that I haven't had the money to buy another one, and I'll be damned if I'm throwing £24 in the bin. Plus, I have an excellent powder which makes it just about wearable if I don't look at people when they talk to me and if I run between cover whenever I go anywhere.
Maybe others have had a good experience, but for me this has been absolutely worthless.
