Bad Points
To judge by the other review you list they must have off moment, but our visit certainly wasn't one!
General Comments
Informal restaurant in attractive old building. Good but simple food with a strong emphasis on local food. Also a really good value for money, we went during a Lobster promotion in August which was much more keenly priced than the nearby Loch Fyne. Walmgate and Fossgate host a range of good independent restaurants (plus Loch Fyne); one of the really good point is that this place has a large seating area so you can go anytime and there are plenty of alternatives nearby.
Good Service from all female team, there was plenty for all the family with children well pleased by meatballs and pasta Garlic bread etc. We really like the clearly changing menus and the emphasis on good locally sourced food. Whitby Crab Risotto especially recommended.
