Good Points
1.9 TDI SE is a very comfortable car and an excellent drive. I currently travel along the M4 2 hours a day and the mpg is excellent.

Bad Points
However - the electronic handbrake.
It failed (I could not switch my handbrake on) within 3 months - VW replaced button under warranty.
It would not let me release the handbrake within 30 months - towed to VW garage for warranty repair.
Windscreen wipers within a year - recalled for warranty fix
Purchased brand new for 18,000 now worth (50,000 miles) 8 thousand.

General Comments
For the first 2 failures, the car was drivable so no courtesy car needed, until the handbrake seized.

I called VW in swindon for advise, no answer and no call back. The car was carried to VW in swindon to be repaired, no problem, this will be fixed under warranty. Great, "can I have a courtesy car?" NO NOT COVERED under VW 3 year warranty. Car failed on Monday, earliest time to repair Thursday.
