Good Points
The Les Paul studio's most prominent feature is its low price. Gibson chose to omit some of the features that do not contribute to tone and playability so you do not have the luxury of a good finish and beautiful woods and trims. However, it still retains the carved maple top and mahogany back. So, you still the superb Les Paul tone and sound. The pickups are the 490R and 498T alnico humbuckers, the pair similar to that which comes with the gibson standard sg. The Gibson Les Paul standard comes with burstbucker pro pickups and if u're wondering what the difference is, its the burstbuckers sound more classic and vintage while the 490R and 498T sound more modern, so its up to personal preference. Versatility is also not a problem. With 2 tone and 2 volume knobs, the studio can go anywhere from blues to heavy metal.

Bad Points
The Les Paul has always been a bulky and heavy guitar compared to the fender stratocaster. Its single cutaway might take some getting used to when comes to playing at the higher frets. The weight of the guitar is inevitable as the solid wood used contributes to the tone of the guitar.

General Comments
The Les Paul Studio is an excellent guitar and gives players out there who want a Gibson Les Paul without having to empty their pockets. Its a great value for money. The guitar has never let me down in any way and has proven again the high standards all Gibson guitars have.
