Jeff Buckley's, Sketches For My Sweetheart The Dru

Jeff Buckley's, Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk is a class CD! I bought it because I loved Grace and wanted to hear more. I actually expected some very rough cuts on this CD, parts of songs, only acoustic, and poor quality recordings. This was simply not the case! In fact, almost every song on here is in a releasable state, save for a few towards the end of disc 2. The literature that comes with the CD's spoke of not knowing whether Jeff would have released any of these, but in my experience you don't arrange and record a song to this level then throw it away. Most of these songs would have made it to the 2nd album had he lived. These recordings are not as instantly wonderful as Grace was, but they grow on you in a big way, to the point where I listen to them more than Grace now. Stand out tracks include 'The Sky Is A Landfill', 'Everybody Here Wants You', 'Vancouver', 'Witches Rave' etc.. about 15 good ones. To be fair I don't really think any quite match up to 'Lover, You Should Have Come Over' or 'Last Goodbye' but they are some of the best songs ever, so it's a tough ask. Worth buying if you like Jeff Buckley at all.
