28 Weeks Later Review

Good Points
Moments of great action and heart racing fear.same great soundtrack. Great opening sequence!

Bad Points
A POOR follow up to a great movie. Patchy-almost glued together,very formulaic.

General Comments
This is how NOT to follow through on a great movie.

In 28 weeks later, Robert Carlysle and his wife are among other survivors, living in a country cottage with boarded up windows when a small boy begins pounding on the outside of the door.

Robert's character begs his wife not to open, but she does.

Everyone stares in amazement at the boy as he shovels food into his face, telling his tale of survival.

Suddenly, an infected rips in through the window-enter the horror.

Everyone scramble for their lives, elderly people, pregnant women and young men, all become exposed to the infection.

Robert and his wife race upstairs, she tries to find the, now hiding child while Robert staves off the enemy horde.

He screams for her to get out of the closet and forget the child, she is on the opposite side of the room when everything stops... as the camera pans, there are several infected in the same room as them, staring and growling at them. Robert on one side of the room, his wife on the other. She yells for him, he dives out of the window, running for his life.

She can be seen at the window one moment, then gone the next.



Robert's charcter, obviously makes it out alive and this was really the best part of the movie.



The americans have secured the "safe zone", a perimeter of the inner city (London), which is heavily fortified and ready to be re-settled by displace Londoners who made it out alive(from the first movie).

Roberts' character is reunited with his children and tell them that their mother was killed while he was trying to save her(a lie).

His character is the custodian of new London, and is the liason between citizens and the armed forces-granting him broad and sweeping authority including a security pass for any and all restricted areas.



cut to the chase....no one is allowed to leave the secured perimiter, but his children do. They hop on mopeds and scot on over to their old home where they find, who else? Their mother alive, but not well.

She has obviously been nitten, but is not suffering from the lethal disease. She is a carrier, or thats what the hot young military doctor discovers once she is restrained and carried back to the safe zone.

....Robert visits her-against permission, kisses her and he then becomes infected(via saliva)

everything goes to heck from here-military personell are ordered to fire on everything, not just infected and eventually the city is overtaken, again with infected.



the rest of the film is a small band of survivors, plus the two children trying to make it to safety with the help of a Marine sniper and the good doctor.



No spoilers here, I did not like the movie that much but will not ruin the ending....
