J Kistruck.'s review of Fuji Finepix 4700

★★★★☆

“This is my first digital camera, so a rating is a bit...”

Written on: 15/10/2001 by J Kistruck. (1 review written)

Good Points
- General ease of use. The controls are simple and elegant.
- Overall size.
- Zooming and panning of shots on the display. I thought it would be a gimmick, but it's really useful.
- Video output to TV for the non-tech friends.
- Extremely simple picture download over USB.

Bad Points
- Very power hungry with the screen on, needs spare batteries (rather than spare memory).
- I have no use for the DPOF features.
- On/Off button not sufficiently well protected / stiff to prevent accidental power-on with the supplied soft case.

General Comments
This is my first digital camera, so a rating is a bit arbitrary, but I am totally satisfied with it. The controls are simple and intuitive, the quality is fine, the USB and video interfaces simple. It won't ever replace an SLR for extreme quality shots, and ultimate controlability, but it makes all compact 35mm cameras redundant.

At this price, I'd recommend it to anyone!
