General Comments
The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130 Zetec 4 dr is a revalation to anyone who's driven one of Ford's earlier diesel efforts.
The engine is immensely powerful. When the turbo kicks in around 2000rpm this thing really flies... very un-diesel like indeed! The engine clatters a bit when cold, but soon settles down to an acceptable level.
Handling is good for such a large car, though one has to be careful in wet conditions, expecially with the 'off-on' nature of the clutch.
Interior is functional rather than exceptional, though a few more cubby holes would be nice.
All the 'Mk3' Mondeos seem to suffer from wind noise, particularly around the driver's side window (there is, apparently, a service bulletin available for garages to fix this).
There's a good amount of luggage space, certainly enough for 4 adults and their holiday suitcases.
All in all the Mondeo is a very capable car. If it didn't have the superb TDCi engine it would be just average.
