mr g uk's review of Indesit (Various Models)

“Quote from Indesit website "...they've got an easy to...”

Quote from Indesit website "...they've got an easy to use, practical and long lasting appliance that'll still be helping them around the home for years to come."

Do they class 18 months as "years to come"?. I have (or should I say had!) a D63 dishwasher which yesterday blew up on me. An independent appliance engineer has had a look at this and said that the fault was caused by water getting into the underside of the machine (ie where the electrics are) and this should not be able to happen. Well it did - in fact it happened 3 times, the first when the machine was only 2 weeks old (I thought I was at fault due to moving the machine and it still worked so I didn't complain).

I was advised to phone Indesit and explain this. I did and was met by the most unhelpful help I've ever met. I was given the choice of either paying £25 for somebody to come and look but no fix (sounds like a good job to me!) or £65 callout + parts costs. Due to not having an extended warranty (due to not being offered one in the first place) these were the only choices given and no amount of begging and pleading would sway this decision. I'm now off to buy a new dishwasher made by somebody else.

My advice...DON'T BUY INDESIT

My 18 month D63 dishwasher has the same fault, it manages to trip the main rcd unit for the house if i switch it on!

Called Indesit and i was told that water getting on the electrics is a really common fault.

Now at school as was taught that water and electricity dont mix well.

So surely the design and Technical people at Merloni should really take this fact into account when making ther products.
