sarah's review of Vampire Rock

“What a waste of money to watch a bunch of people...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sarah on 11/11/2007

Good Points
The female lead could sing well and the female dancer had obviously worked hard and looked good.

Bad Points
Appallingly over-acted by the lead female who was more pantomime rather than stage show, along with the third dubious male supposedly acting. The lead male missed at least one line out in every song he tried to sing, couldn't decide which key to sing in, seemed totally tired after the first number and wandered around the stage with no apparent direction. Not one single set change.

General Comments
What a waste of money to watch a bunch of people singing rubbish old songs whilst supposedly acting out a Dracula story: vampire wants bride, bride walks onto set dressed like an old lady and suddenly all her clothes fall off, old lady becomes vampires bride. That was it. For that sort of money, you'd expect the lead male to be able to sing a song right through and in the same key and you'd expect the lead female to be able to act - not that there was much dialogue at all. At one point, we thought the audience were going to be drawn into the action, but no, not one bit of audience participation either.
