Good Points
The location is perfect, just underneath Catbells fell in the valley of Borrowdale, south of Keswick (North Lakes).
The cottage we were in had breathtaking views to the hills and across the valley.
You can walk to the lake (Derwentwater) in about 15 minutes through a pretty wood.
Very clean and well kept.
Lovely garden with garden furniture, and a sun porch to retreat to when it got cold.
Bad Points
We would have liked to have known when we booked that there was a hot tub - we didn't bring our swimming costumes.
You can't see the lake from the cottages.
The decor is simple/traditional - nothing flash or particularly inspiring.
General Comments
Manesty Holiday Cottages is a lovely peaceful place to relax. It's central to all the attractions of the Lake District, but you could just hang around the immediate area as it's so pretty. Manesty is slightly off the beaten track, on a minor road, so you don't get that overcrowded feeling of some bits of the Lakes (although you are only 15 minutes from Keswick). The owners provide a set of 10 self guided walks from the cottage - no need to get in the car. A real country retreat.
