lumbricus's review of Moeck Rottenburgh Descant and Tenor

★★★★☆

“For the price, the Moeck Rottenburgh Descant and Tenor...”

Good Points
I have had both instruments (both maple) for well over ten years and both have been reliable consort instruments, well made and well finished.

Bad Points
Fingering for top B and Bb on my instruments need a little modification as standard baroque fingerings give sharp notes. An extra half hole on top B and using 12 - 345 on top Bb works reasonably well. A Rottenburgh treble owned by a friend has similar issues on top E and Eb.

General Comments
For the price, the Moeck Rottenburgh Descant and Tenor is a solid and reliable buy for the consort player who wants a wooden recorder but who does not want to spend a fortune.
