Essaouira, Riad Dar Afram

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there was an extremely relaxed atmosphere. The Dar Afram has a reputation for being musical, the owner is in a band, and his son owns a local music stall. After meals guests would usually sit and have a chat or a jam on the instruments. The riad is decorated in an attractive traditional manner, it was clean and had a beautiful roof top terrace, where you can sit and watch the sun set over the rooves of the city. Overall the Dar Afram was anextremely mellow pleasant place, and excellent value at around £12ppn. However the location was very daunting on arrival, it was our first time in a medina and walking down the dark narrow alley to get to the riad felt unsafe at first.
