“It's a good camera - as are other Jenoptik products -...”

Good Points
The Jenoptik Jd 1300d is an excellent camera; easy to use ; easy to understand; and easy to play with. It fits nicely into my Wife's handbag and she actually can take pictures with it.

General Comments
It's a good camera - as are other Jenoptik products - but the downside to the camera can spoil the general enjoyment of the product.

First there is the question of the batteries, already mentioned several times on the review page. Top of the range power only and make sure you have plenty in reserve as even the best batteries will not last long. General tip - don't review your photographs very often, it's the power required to light up the LCD display that sucks most of the power.

The second major problem is of course the software. Not unusual for Jenoptik products.

In XP the camera is found only as a removable disc. Even then there is sodme sort of power question as I personally find that if I have more than five pictures to down load onto my computer the camera jams.

When I asked Jenoptik about this they suggested that the data must be corrupted. It wasn't!!! Indeed, Jenoptik's view of the world seems to be, here is our product range, it might not work very well on the standard Windows programmes, but hey that's not our fault, it's the fault of Microsoft.

Are they going to do anything about it. Nop. Their Customer Services in the UK made that perfectly clear to me.

So to down load - I have found that the only way to get at my pictures is to down load five or six at a time, and one at a time - don't go for the select all option - the camera will jam. Then switch the camera off save the files and then start all over again with the next five pictures.

The Jenoptik Customer Care and Support really needs sorting - big time. The fact is they don't seem to care at all. I am surprised that one of the TV Watchdog Programmes have not yet caught up with them.

So great product - rubbish software development, and customer support.

Buy at your own risk.
