Good Points
brilliant concept, brilliant acting, and pant wettingly scary in places.

Bad Points
dated by todays standards.

General Comments
As viewers of channel 4 in england are aware, they have decided to show alien again. i was looking for something decent to watch, and having heard good things of this film, i decided to judge it myself.

i was in for a shockingly good surprise.....

as alot of you know by now, an 8-strong crew recieve a distress call from a previously uncharted planet, and land there to investigate.

one of the crew is put into intensive after an unidentifiable creature attatches itself to his face.then it dies unexplainably, leaving him seemingly normal.

days later, he is ripped to peices by a creature bursting from his chest, which then runs off.

all of a sudden, the crew is being picked off one by one by an alien predator.

a frighteningly good film that had me on the edge of my seat throughout.

the actors, especially sigourney weaver as ripley, were almost faultless, and as the film was made in the 1970's, i thought the alien itself looked quite realistic.the memorable scenes include the 'chest burster' scene, and the scene in the air ventilation shaft that almost made me leap through the ceiling!.but its the final scene thats going to haunt you for a long time.

as this is mostly in recognition of the genius of ridley scott, i'd like to say....thank you sir!

Dunno what you mean by "dated by today's standards" 'turk', but I've given you an Agree.

<br>It's a cracking film and any so-called "remake" is highly unlikely to equal it, leave alone better it.
