General Comments
After insuring my dog with Pet Plan for 16 years! I was saddened to discover on receipt of my closing claim for insurance that the euthanasia was not covered by my policy. Surely euthanasia is a veterinary procedure and the ultimate final humane way to end an ill dog's life. It is the policy that angers me and their reasons (which they are sending in writing) "That someone may insure the dogs life then euthanize them and claim on their policy" - surely this is not everyone!

Euthanasia is a relatively low cost. If your dog had had a chronic condition costing thousands of pounds, the cost of euthanasia would have paled into insignificance, as PetPlan would have paid for the illness year after year. It's swings and roundabouts; PetPlan do provide a very good service I have found, but cannot cover everything, otherwise premiums would have to go up even more.

I found this review very helpful because I too thought the very same thing. Not only do you have to deal with the loss of your treasured pet, you get a letter to confirm their death.I was very upset and angry that this was not covered within my insurance policy. It was also 'listed' as euthanasia which brought it all back weeks after the event!

Yes Petpal, exactly! it is a relatively low cost so why increase the stress and trauma of bereavement by not paying it. <br/><br/>I think this particular point is justification enough for not going with this company. I see it as a litmus test for the overall attitude of the insurer.
