General Comments
I was looking for a 32" Widescreen TV to replace my ageing Sony 4*3 format telly. It was a natural choice to go for another Sony, especially as I had such good service from my old set. What a shock, in all formats that the 32FQ80 telly could display, all horizontal lines were bent. Barrel distortion big time. The sound was very hissy on sibilant consonants. I was so disappointed that the suppliers replaced it with another 32FQ80 the very next day. I was sure that this would be the solution, maybe the first set had a motorway accident or something. I switched it on, waited a second or so, then hey presto the picture, then the sound, was it good? Hell no, just the same, The worst barrel distortion that I have ever seen, and that sound, or should I call it screeching noise that emanated from it.
Sorry Sony, but this is not progress, Listen and listen good "A STRAIGHT LINE IS A STRAIGHT LINE" not a sine curve that you chaps seem to think.
Having gone back to the shops for another look, most WS sets for some reason have this distortion with the picture, the worst being Sony, Phillips and Toshiba being the best. Not just Sony, but all manufacturers should take a good look at quality control as the product leaves the factory, because what I see and hear doesn't look good at all.
