Good Points
Clear center, great volume levels, small easy to hide speakers
Bad Points
Sub is a muddy at full tilt, turn it down to 3/4 and you're good to go.

Ok, this JVC THB-5 is my first home theater, but my brother in law has a very high end system, so at least I have something to compare it to.
I'll start with the sub...its only a 6", but it rumbles away quite well, but its not overly clear. I was watching saving Private Ryan (dts) and the floor was rumbling at a volume of 30. Anything higher and I might have killed my fish. The top end on the receiver is 50 so it was just over half volume. My livingroom is about 14x14, and it was FILLED with sound.
When i bought this system , I was at the store and received a demo of a comparable Kenwood system. The JVC won hands down. Much clearer sound came out of it.
I paid 350.00 cdn for it. Worth every penny. My brother in laws system is worth about 3500.00. Does it sound better? Yep...only at excessively high volumes though... But look at the price difference.
If you want a system that can easily fill a room with noise at a great price...go with JVC.
