Good Hotel

Stayed at the Divan for 9 nights and I think it is a good hotel.

We had an aqua room which was situated in the basement. This was perfect for our needs as it meant we weren’t far from the pool and didn’t have to go all through the hotel and use the lift constantly. It was very quiet as there was non one above us and the room was a good size. The air conditioning worked very well, clean and had a good view.

We spent time by the pool and it was nice and clean. For the first half of our holiday we were able to find loungers so problem but then people started to reserve them early which was annoying and shouldn’t really happen in a five star hotel. We also had lunch at the pool bar which was very nice. It was pricey but that was to be expected but the food was good quality and there was lots to choose from.

The gym was a good size and had plenty of equipment. There were two running machines and a few bikes. They also had free weights, weight machines and other equipment such as step’s, skipping ropes and swizz balls. The one problem with the gym was the temperature – it was incredibly hot. The room was near the Turkish baths and the air conditioner didn’t work at all so it was like working out in a sauna. I suspect at time it was so hot it was dangerous to be running in.

The food at breakfast was good but the service was poor. Everything was fresh and they had a good selection. We would arrive usually at around 9.45am and breakfast finished at 10.30am so it wasn’t just closing. However when we would arrive it was impossible to find a table that had been cleaned, had fresh culinary or clean cups – we would have to go around and find it for ourselves. At breakfast I seriously doubted I was in a five star hotel.

All the staff were helpful and polite. We met the odd person who couldn’t speak English but there was always someone on hand to help.

The location was very good and in easy walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants.
