OK so the Volkswagen Golf GTI may not be a Subaru or Boxster beater, but a good car all the same - and as someone said in their comments 50mpg and the performance (near enough) of the 4Motion - just a pity it's not so good when it comes to corners, or for that matter in the snow!

Performance is not really that good on these cars, I wanted one personally, but after driving the 1.8 T petrol and the PD 150, I know which I choose for performance. Horses for courses mate, TDi is great for fuel consumption, but on the whole, anyone wanting a fast car needs to be looking at petrol. TDi 150 has a 0-60 time around 1 second slower than the petrol, put both cars round the track the petrol will win, put them both in an endurance race with a full tank. TDi wins. see where this is going..................

Volkswagen living off an outdated reputation for reliability from 20 years ago. They are so bad that even their budget brand 'Skoda' are more well made.

I found this review unhelpful because... It offers no real information.
