General Comments
Bought the Renault Modus 1.5 Dci Maxim 106 new in October 2005 when the new Euro IV 106bhp engine was introduced with the 6 speed manual gearbox.

The main reason for buying was the need to downsize from a Renault Scenic to aid inner city parking whilst retaining some of the versatility and space inside. This it achieves admirably, with the electric variable power steering being a major plus, very light for parking but weighting up nicely when pressing on.

The fuel economy has been a most welcome improvement, expect 49mpg around the city and on longer trips as long as you don't cane it and use the cruise control, easy mid 50's.

Diesel engine torque is legendary and this one is no different performance is very spritely away from the lights and particularly good uphill even fully loaded with four passengers. This is just as well as the only gripe I have is the notchy gearbox especially 2nd gear when it is cold, I find it best to avoid too many changes and use the torque until it has warmed up well.

Safety is outstanding, this car has a 5* euro ncap rating with front and side airbags as standard, ABS and EBD as standard and additional airbags and traction control / stabilty control as options.

Interior packaging has been very pleasing and I have not missed the Scenic as much as I thought I would, two glove boxes, cubby holes and decent sized door pockets all round as well as the extremely useful
