Good Points
None!

Bad Points
Bad call centres. Endless forms. Incorrect information given by staff.

General Comments
Unfortunately my mum has got a severe hernia, and has been scheduled for surgery. All the relevant forms were filled in to claim for the child on the booking who was insured with AXA Travel Insurance on Thomson Gold. My mum and dad were both insured with Direct Line (fantastic company), and their claim was settled within 10 days. Axa however firstly advised that there would be an excess of £65, which made you think twice about claiming, as you have the expense of doctors letters etc. This was incorrect, as the excess is only £35. Then they said we had not sent the doctors letter. I had copied all paperwork, and they are trying not to pay saying they don't have enough information, yet all paperwork clearly states that due to recovery time they are unable to travel, and a 10 year old girl can not go to Tunisia alone!! I had heard that Axa will do anything to avoid paying out, and this seems to be the case as this has gone on for weeks now.

Kayvts's Response to chanross's Review

I am having exactly the same thing happen to me. I was due to travel to Cuba in September with my partner but I came down with pneumonia so obviously wasn't fit for flying.

I sent off all the relevant paperwork including doctors letters and flight tickets etc.. but yet they keep sending me letters saying they haven't received all relevant documents.

It is so frustrating as the money we are trying to claim back is £2000 and that is a hell of a lot of money to us. I have been on the phone to them quite a few times and they say while on the phone that they HAVE received all the relevant paperwork yet I still keep getting letters... it doesn't help either the fact that the call centre is in Mauritius so they can't understand you very well!

Phoned them again last week so hopefully it will be sorted this time but it really is so hard trying to claim back the money that should be rightfully mine!

Dont hold your breath. my mum still hasn't had a pay out and they are only trying to get about £80. she is in hospital now and there is no way she will be fit to travel on 1st jan but it is in the hands of axa complaints. Good luck in getting nearly £2000 from them.
