General Comments
I was put in touch with Devitt through the BMW Motorcycle website. Firstly I was misquoted; being informed that the price I was offered was for fully comprehensive cover, but it turned out to be T,P,F & T. I only noticed this when I received the paperwork (having already paid). I called and spoke to an operator and was met with total indifference and some ignorance. No apologies nor offers to correct the mistake was made, indeed I was told that if I cancelled the insurance I would have to pay a cancellation fee. Having been trapped in this way, not being able to prove that I had been missold the insurance, I now faced costs through no fault of my own. I cancelled the legal protection cover I had bought when taking out the insurance since it had now become very expensive insurance cover. I subsequently received a recorded delivery letter (underfranked by £1.50) stating that my insurance would be terminated!!!!!!!!!!! this apparently because I had cancelled the legal protection cover. I rang and spoke to a supervisor and again no apology was offered, only a statement that I would receive a letter saying that everything was OK. I asked why a threatening letter had been sent in the first place, and the reply was that it was automatically generated!!!!!!!! apparently because the paperwork had changed and I had not returned my insurance certificate? They never asked for this to be returned in the first place, and as it turned out it did not need to be returned/replaced anyway. After waiting for a week I had not received the promised letter alleviating the threat of cancellation as I was promised, and I therefore rang and queried this; only to be told that it had been sent but they would send another anyway - this funnily arrived within a couple of days but the first letter never arrived!!! In my opinion this company's representatives do not begin to know the meaning of customer service, and compounded errors are the way they operate. I only hope that for the next year I have no insurance claims and I cannot wait for renewal date so I can move my insurance to a reputable company. I have renamed the company DeTvitt because they richly deserve it. In my humble opinion this company is a shambles.
