“In summary Ticketline (www.ticketline.co.uk) only...”

★★★☆☆

Good Points
Piccadilly Box Office (aka. Ticketline or Piccadilly Ticketline) have no automated telephone lines which is a welcome relief. They also reply to enquiries in person which is also nice.

Bad Points
The company has, in recent years, expanded and as a result they have increased costs and become more automated like other similar companies. The company has a very aggressive policy regarding refunds and is not in the slightest bit sympathetic to customers when they may ask for refunds or changes to their bookings. The company charges huge amounts for booking fees and adds on excessive charges for postage also. They also often contact customers after bookings to charge them extra for their own mistakes.
The company mostly employs very friendly and patient staff but some older staff in particular can be very rude, unfriendly, inpatient and even offensive towards foreign or 'slow' customers. One lady at the company has been known to hang up on customers she doesn't like. Tickets often arrive late and this isn't always explained to customers. The company's website is well managed by very friendly IT staff but it is very outdated and during very busy periods it can be pathetically slow but the IT staff usually try harder than the regular 'phone' staff to sort out problems which are not their fault but the companies.

General Comments
In summary Ticketline (www.ticketline.co.uk) only compares favourably to other ticket agencies because it is a smaller and more personal company. The company cannot be recommended because of the high charges, hidden costs and occasional unfriendly staff and refund policies.

I find this surprising. We buy most of our gig tickets via Ticketline - albeit in person as much as possible - and the service has always been good. We have always received our tickets. Just to give you an idea, this year alone we've seen 50+ gigs. When we've used the box office itself, and they give out receipts instead of tickets (again to stop touting), they're always helpful and informative about when the tickets will be available for collection, although they always have them on the door on the night waiting for you. The only real problems I've had are the same as with EVERY ticket agency - when big gigs go on sale (Morrissey, Killers, White Stripes, Leeds Festival, etc.) the site crashes or runs very slowly. Also, you cannot, in these instances, as a result, place one set of tickets in your basket and then go add a pair for another date - irritating, as Decemberists tickets went on sale the same day as Morrissey tickets and I had to place three separate orders, which sometimes causes one of the orders to be cancelled, so I also had to use more than one credit card. Seriously though, if they'd up their bandwidth so the servers didn't crash like that, I would have no complaints about the service.

I also have these experiences with Ticketline.co.uk but where people work mistakes are being made. With Ticketline the customer has to pay for their mistakes.
