NEVER AGAIN!!!

ROOM

although the room was nice,the mini bar was supposed to be stocked daily with water,beer & soft drinks also coffee,it was not so, we had to find the maid for it.

BEDDING

Was not changed,also the bed had bed bugs.

BEACH TOWELS

could not replace them daily,sometimes it took 2 days to change them.

POOL BAR/SNACK BAR

never opened on time,slush machine topped with tap water.barman did'nt have a smile for cat.snack bar not clean food under cooked.

BUFFET RESTURANT

be prepared to clear & set your own table,staff to busy talking.

FOOD

hot food was cold & under cooked,cold meats kept on cracked platters covered in flies,pancakes not cooked while you wait,kept under counter were cold & rubbery,milk was not kept in a cool area,lived on soup for 2 weeks.

It was the worst holiday we have ever had, to say it was very expensive.

5 STARS WE WOULD NOT GIVE IT 3 STARS

The hotel gave us very little information about plans for when Ike hit. But after they had the hotel and grounds back to normal very quickly. The hotel is well kept but would not be a 5 star here. The choice of spirits behind the lobby bar and the food at the pool bar were good. Warning avoid using the internet as it very slow.

Based on my experience when I have stayed many times at Melia hotels in Cuba and elsewhere on there network, this does not rate the 5 stars, maximum 3 stars. Even after speaking to the manager I got the impression he agreed with me.

Would not return to the Tryp Peninsula Varadero hotel unless great improvements, happily return to other Melia hotels.
