General Comments
I was torn between an Audi A2 1.4 TDI SE family car and a Mercedes A-Class. I chose the A2 and have never regretted it.
I love this car - I've done 30,000 miles in it since new and it drives just as well, and looks just as good, as the day I collected it. No faults and no hassle. I'd recommend the diesel over the 1.4 petrol. I had one of those as a courtesy car and it seemed rather underpowered compared to the diesel.
The quirky design won't be for everyone but it's very individual. The bonnet doesn't open - oil, water, washers are all reached through the front grille which just folds down.
The quality is great - just as good as the big Audis. Get climate control if you can. The fuel economy is amazing - around 70mpg if you're careful and 400 miles easily on a full tank (which costs only £20 to fill). The interior is lovely - even the simple cloth option looks as thought it's been tailored.
I'm surprised Audi have kept so quiet about the A2 which is perhaps why they haven't sold many. I think it's becoming a classic - and already has an owners' club!
