Good Points
Excellent leg room. Had two choices of meal, which were mainly good. The breakfast was not so appetizing.
Bad Points
Temperamental in-flight entertainment. No radio channels even though advertised. Head sets uncomfortable and a lot of interference with the sound making the return flight movies unwatchable.
General Comments
Phuket Air:
Check in at Gatwick was fine. Flight was delayed for 50 minutes on outward flights and 2 hrs on return. Return flight was via Dubai which we did not find out about until we checked in at Bangkok.
Seats were comfortable (approx 32" seat pitch. In flight staff very friendly, always coming round with water, orange juice, etc. If you wanted anything else they were only too happy to oblige.
Downside is the in-flight entertainment as the sound quality is very poor. Best to take lots of reading matter just in case.
Also took internal flight from Bangkok to Krabi which was fine going down, but on the return we found out ourselves that the flight had been cancelled - there were no signs informing us it was purely by chance enquiring when they would be opening the check in desk that we found out. Luckily they whisked us to the Thai Airways check in desk and within 10 minutes we were onboard their flight and yes, the baggage arrived at Bangkok as well!!
On the whole I would recommend them, although the flight home via Dubai seemed very long as the sound quality was un-listenable.

It is quite likely with a Boeing 747-300 that a refuelling stop will be required on the BKK - LGW sector because of the prevailing headwinds. This should not be required on the LGW - BKK sector. However Phuket Air should make this clearer or passengers could be annoyed if they find out at checkin, or even in the air.

They won't buy any planes, I think they will close soon...

I understand Phuket Air will be acquiring Boeing 747-400 series aircraft from Singapore Airlines in the near future.
