First Visit To Malta.

Both me and my boyfriend settled on a short 4 day break to the island of Malta during the beginning of August. It was both are first time in Malta therefore we had previously checked reviews for the Sunflower Hotel in Qawra and found they were quite positive.

Good Points:

When we arrived at the hotel we found the reception staff to be very friendly and helpful, clearly informing us all the information we needed to know and what facilities the hotel offered. Our room was located on the sixth floor and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the room was spacious and clean, something we were not expecting at all. The next day we ventured into the breakfast area where the restaurant staff were friendly and polite and the food was lovely and we found that the variety changed slightly every day. We went to the rooftop pool area early in order to have a higher chance of getting a sunbed however we really didnt need to as there were many sunbeds available. The views from the roof were spectacular and the pool was clean and not too deep. We ordered coctails from the pool bar which had underwater stools and found the staff to be friendly and full of banter.

As Qawra is so close to Buggiba we walked into the area every day/night in order to explore. We found that it offered many cruises and bus tours which we chose to embark on and found them to be cultural and scenic. The restaurants there were also reasonably priced as were the bars. Qawra also offers its own area filled with shops, bars and restaurants called Tourist Street where we found a lovely chinese restaurant called The Great Wall.

In Qawra it is definetly worth checking out the Car Museum which is amazing and offers great photo opportunities..ahem facebook profile pictures!

Bad Points:

Initially we had requested for a Sea view from our hotel room, when we arrived all we could see was a tiny gap in the buildings where the sea was and it didnt help that the balcony was so tiny. There is a lot of building work going on around the hotel and the area can be a bit of a maze therefore its not suited to anyone with walking difficulties or someone who does not like walking and because the area has a lot of stray cats ( we counted 18 directly below our balcony) it is not sutiable for people who do not like cats. The games room in the hotel only consisted of a pool table as the pinball machine was out of order. Souvenirs in the area are also very expensive therefore it takes you to shop about in order to find the perfect gift as prices vary. Because it gets unbearably warm during the daytime we found that there wasnt many places offering shade which was a major downfall in the area.

All in all, me and my boyfriend had a fantastic time in Malta and would definetly recommend the hotel to travellers on a budget.

The World Is A Big Place And We Wanted To Experien

The world is a big place and we wanted to experience somewhere different so we went to Malta, what a big mistake!

We love everything about Greece, the climate, the people, the culture, the food and will probably return there in the future. Our advice is to give Malta a wide berth!
