Something Has Got To Be Truly Terrible Before It Q
Something has got to be truly terrible before it qualifies for a place on my 'list of things I hate' (which, of course, is just a metaphorical list. Obviously I don't have an actual list of things that I hate. That would be ridiculous in the sense that I am a 19yr old student. We would be talking a pretty long list, my friend. Not even I can remember what is on my list. I think we have established the great extent of the metaphorical list now. On with the review). This single 'Grace Kelly' and also the accompanying video (very important) effortlessly slots itself in the top 20 on the list, just beating the Harry Potter films and sharing joint place with jaffa cakes. Listening to this song I feel uneasy, yet compelled to sit motionless listening to this jibberish, thinking, is this a joke? a spoof? do they want me to laugh and say affectionately, 'his voice is funny' or take him seriously as an (ahem) artist. And then I saw the video. It all became clear, it was just a silly, somewhat irritating man jumping around. Alot. And boy does he jump around. And then jump around some more. Wow, he is good at jumping, well done! "What a good boy and look at your lovely red sweater and trousers outfit! Did mummy get those for you? No? You chose them yourself?"
Ok, critisizing the guy's clothes is a bit harsh (especially if his mother did in fact choose them for him. Sorry about that, I do feel bad now) but I do consider myself an expert on all things indie/pop rock (not new rave, waaaaaay overrated. Will be gone by 08. Don't quote me on that) and find myself disappointed with the British Public for being seduced so by a catchy (essentially naff) tune in such a big way (#1 for how many weeks?!). In conclusion, I must confess this song is not quite my cup of tea, more a cup of cold, stale tea with a jaffa cake to dunk. Would love to review the album but would rather eat my own face than buy it.
PS: If this review is not printed, I will of course assume that you all have been brainwashed by the offending song and will not take it personally.

Sometimes You Just Want To Hear Something Differen
Sometimes you just want to hear something different and Mika with Grace Kelly fits that bill. It is hard to fit this music into a genre other than funky pop, but whatever it is, it is refreshing and alive and new. This single has gone to number one and for those of you who have not heard it please visit his site http://www.mikasounds.com/ where you can hear a sample. Highly recommended and I totally love his Freddie voice, just hope the rest of the album is just as good.
