Good Points
Excellent sounding tiny speakers that simply disapear in most rooms

Bad Points
Quite pricey, but audibly better than similar small units

General Comments
There really seems to be no end to peoples extreme comments on bose, but lets get some things straight, here in the uk the bose marketing hype does not tend to be as apparent as it is elswhere, so the first time i encountered the system was when i listened to a set in a direct comparison with a set of similarly priced mordant short 904's,905 centre,903's and a much more expensive set of tannoy eyris's.

I have always enjoyed true audiophile equipment and for my main stereo i use conrad-johnson pre and power amp, Audiostatic DCI 4 speakers and at present an Audio Analogue - Maestro CD. This is not meant to be a boast, i work very hard to indulge my passions and music is very much one of them. So needing an affordable but discreet cinema system i have been auditioning and researching.

I came to the bose acoustimass speakers a couple of weeks in and im glad i found them, all of this rubbish i have read since about not publishing ratings and figures is uneducated nonsense. try to find manufacturers figures on any high end systems and you will be disappointed by what you might see if anything at all. This is because contrary to popular theory most makers strive not for transparency but instead for a pleasingly tuned sound. any speaker system so small as a bose is bound to be working harder in some areas more than others, but i personally think the sound is very well detailed and there is plenty of mid range musicality. the base is interesting but does take some setting up. i tried them in the store with nad, yamaha, onkyo and marantz (all recently best buys in the av press). the bose sounded better than the other speakers including the tannoys with all but the yamaha which to my ears is very warm.

I opted for the nad and a set of bose 6's the extra cubes and base driver of the 10s did not seem much of an improvement (in fact things start to sound a little muddled).

i have been very happy with the purchase and while the sound is not up there with a high end stereo system it is very impressive and equals larger twice as expensive speakers , especially for dvd films.
