“This instrument is no comparison to a Besson Prestige...”

Written on: 20/03/2008 by Hal356 (1 review written)

Good Points
The instrument actually almost seems to come close to a Yamaha quality instrument. Tuning and overall sound is good, and the plating holds up better than I originally thought.

Bad Points
Tubing above valves is quite low, so if you have long fingers, you might run into the tubing, and can become bothersome. 4th valve is sharp all the way in but can be adjusted and fixed.

General Comments
This instrument is no comparison to a Besson Prestige euphonium, but the build comes extremely close to that of a Yamaha YEP-321. I use both horns, and the only difference is they both have slightly different sounds. I would definitely recommend this horn, rather than a crummy Tristar instrument, espically since they are around the same price of $300. Only other problem is that it is hard to play A flat, just below middle C, but with proper buzzing, no one could tell the difference.
