“Late smashed divan bed”

I first ordered a divan bed with two drawers on the 20th September specifying a delivery date on the 30Th a Saturday), giving 9 working days. On the morning of the 30th, I got a text message saying that they would be unable to deliver the bed that day but I would be contacted about new arrangements. Of course NOBODY bothered to contact me. I attempted to contact Bedroom world via their own feedback page and again received no response. I eventually phoned them and after spending over an hour on the phone listening to the most excruciating muzak, eventually got through to someone who promised that the bed would arrive on Saturday 7th (fortunately I had nothing planned for that day).
The bed arrived on the 7th. However when I removed the packaging, although the structure of the bed was OK, both drawers were smashed. The front of one drawer had fallen off and the front corner of the drawer was smashed – it looked like the drawer has been dropped before being inserted into the bed. The front of the other drawer was also not secured properly to the body of the drawer.
I have to say that although the bed seemed sound enough, the workmanship of the drawers was appalling. There was no damage to the packaging, so it seems likely that the damage was done before packing in the factory, by someone who then put the damaged drawers into the bed, thinking “Not my problem”.
I contacted Bedroom World again via their website to report the damage. I had 15 photographs but their website only allowed me to attach 3 to the complaint – TOTALLY INADEQUATE. You can guess what happened – IGNORED AGAIN! Eventually I contacted them again asking them to take the bed back. That suddenly spurred them into action. 27 days after I ordered the item, and a week after I had complained, I finally got an e-mail asking for photographs (which I had already supplied). Eventually they agreed to take the bed back (another Saturday ruined by having to wait in, days of my life I am never going to get back) and I eventually got my payment refunded. It should be pointed out that I had been sleeping on the floor like an animal for four weeks. Then I did what I should have done in the first place – went to a local shop, who charged virtually the same price,(60p difference) and delivered a much better made bed ON TIME.
To sum up, Bedroom World – quality of product APPALLING, customer service APPALLING, responsiveness APPALLING. DO NOT USE.
