“Poor tent quality lead to poor customer servoce”

written by ChantelleE on 27/09/2017

6 weeks ago we purchased an Easy Camp Galaxy 400 tent, we used it 3 times and will never be able to use it again.

We went camping last weekend in Wales, set our tent up on the Friday evening and went to bed. At 4am the tent collapsed on us which we were asleep. We got up tidied the tent and went back to bed. On the Saturday we wen tout hiking for the day, we got back to the camp site for the tent to be in a pile on the floor. We sorted this out and set the tent back up. A few hours later we went to bed and a few hours later the tent collapsed on us yet again! We were exhausted by the end of the weekend having to deal with a flimsy and clearly not a sturdy tent as it is described.

We wrote to Go Outdoors to tell them of our situation as the tent is no longer usable as the poles have split, guy lines come off and the inner compartment has ripped. Go Outdoors came back to me with the line 'sorry to hear about your trouble' in my opinion it is slightly more than trouble when you pay £110 for a tent you have only used 3 times. We have been told the warranty does not cover wind damage. I would like to assume that selling a tent in the UK it would be tested for windy weather...clearly this product was not as sold (as they use the word Sturdy) or is faulty.

Of all the tents on the site we were the only one to have trouble, I don't blame the wind I blame the tent itself.

Go Outdoors have accepted no liability for selling a product that cannot live up to its expectations. We had a friends with us to had a cheaper tent from a competitor of Go Outdoors which was not affected by the weather.

The customer service I have experienced so far form Go Outdoors has been very disappointing.

I have been a customer for several years. Myself and my partner spend a lot of money each year with them and we always refer friends to them for their outdoor equipment. It is safe to say we will not shop there again as they clearly have no care for their customers.

One very unhappy customer
