“Can't give a call before visting”

I phoned mediquip to report a faulty battery charger for my mums hoist ,I was told it would be replaced within 4 hours time slot.i kindly asked if the engineer would kindly phone me before he makes his journey so I can get someone at the house to let him in as my mother is unable to walk.
The person said we don't make calls before call outs I explained to him my mums condition ,his answer was no.what a joke ,A company supplying equipment for people with disabilities can't help with courtesy call .
They should be more understand ing with there costumers.
