A brilliant idea spoiled in the execution! When my previous brilliant Fuji (S5000) died, I didn't hesitate to replace it with the S8000, especially with its amazing optical zoom - but it has been a nightmare, giving constant 'Zoom error' failures where the lens opens, retreats and leaves you with a black LCD screen. You have to switch off and start again. It went back to Fuji 3 times for repair in 11 months and the problem was never resolved. From reading various reviews, it seems to be a common problem and one Fuji can't resolve. A real shame because otherwise it is a brilliant camera.
